Athletes, Unified partners and coaches interested in participating virtually from home may do so in a variety of different events.

Practice with your team as part of Return to Play or practice at home on your own and submit your event and score. All scores from practice or from home are due by Sunday, June 6.

Basketball

You can participate with your team or on your own!

If your team is practicing together, your coach will use Online Registration to register athletes. If you are participating on your own, let us know which skills events you completed and your score in each event (send us your best score). You can send this information to [email protected].

Individual skills events

  • Individual Skills – participate in Individual Skills at your team practice and have your coach submit your best score
  • All Star Skills Challenge – participate in the All Star Skills Challenge at your team practice and have your coach submit your best score
  • Layups – Compete from home! How many layups did you make out of 20 attempts? Have your coach submit your best score or email your best score to [email protected]
  • Free Throws – Compete from home! How many free throws did you make out of 20 attempts? Have your coach submit your best score or email your best score to [email protected]
  • Speed Dribble – Compete from home! How many times can you dribble a basketball in 60 seconds? Have your coach submit your best score or email your best score to [email protected]

Fishing

Go fishing! Must have a valid fishing license. The Minnesota DNR offers a fishing license for free for people with developmental disabilities. Please visit the Minnesota DNR web page for more information and to apply for a license.

Catch a fish and take a picture of it, then tell us all about it. What fish did you catch? Measure it and weigh it, then send that information plus the photo to [email protected].

Fitness

We are giving away 10 pairs of shoes to athletes that participate in the Spring Fitness Challenge! For details and how to register, visit the Spring Sports Season Fitness page. All fitness registrations are due by June 6 to be eligible.

Gymnastics

Must participate with a delegation following Return to Play guidelines. Coaches will use Online Registration to register athletes. Coaches should judge each gymnast’s routines during practice and register them online with their events and scores. Questions? Please email [email protected]

Gymnastics Events

  • All events that are normally offered at a competition are available for gymnasts to participate in at practice. Gymnasts can participate in and get judged in as many events as they would like.

Swimming

Must participate with a delegation following Return to Play guidelines. Coaches will use Online Registration to register athletes and submit times for events to be divisioned virtually.

Swimming Events

  • Freestyle – 25m or 50m
  • Butterfly – 25m or 50m
  • Breaststroke – 25m or 50m
  • Backstroke – 25m or 50m

Track & Field

You can participate with your team or on your own!

If you are competing from home, you can do this in your yard, on a sidewalk or any open space. Measure and mark the distance from start to finish. If you are unable to use a measuring tape, you can measure by taking large steps. 30 large steps equals 25m, 60 large steps equals 50m, 120 large steps equals 100m and 240 large steps equals 200m.

  • 25 meter – How fast can you walk, roll or run 25 meters? Record the fastest time it takes you to race from the start to finish.
  • 50 meter – How fast can you walk, roll or run 50 meters? Record the fastest time it takes you to race from the start to finish.
  • 100 meter – How fast can you walk, roll or run 100 meters? Record the fastest time it takes you to race from the start to finish.
  • 200 meter – How fast can you walk, roll or run 200 meters? Record the fastest time it takes you to race from the start to finish.
  • Standing Long Jump – How far can you jump? Keep both feet on the ground and jump from a standing position. Record the farthest distance you jump in meters and centimeters.
  • Tennis Ball Throw – How far can you throw a tennis ball? Measure the distance of your throw in meters and centimeters. If you can throw farther than 15 meters, please do not try this activity.
